Whistleblowing

Canada Post is committed to the highest standards of business conduct. Following through on this commitment is every employee’s responsibility. We encourage employees and any other individuals to report improper activities, such as violations of Canada Post’s policies and practices, without fear of reprisal. We will investigate these alleged activities and will maintain the confidentiality of information reported to the extent reasonably practicable.


Compliance to the Code of Conduct

Employees are expected to comply with the Code of Conduct and the policies and practices it represents. Violations of the Code of Conduct, policies or practices may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.

Examples of improper activities include:

  • Misappropriation or significant mismanagement of Canada Post resources, funds or assets.
  • Failure to comply with Canada Post’s policies, practices and processes.
  • Questionable and/or improper accounting, internal controls, or auditing practices or conduct (including fraud, deliberate error or misrepresentation).
  • Actual or potential violations of federal or provincial laws or regulations.
  • Participation in corrupt business practices, such as making illegal or improper payments or bribes.
  • An inappropriate request to alter, conceal or destroy a document.
  • Conduct that creates a substantial and specific danger to the environment.
  • Any attempt to conceal an improper activity or evidence of an improper activity.
  • Any conduct that constitutes a reprisal.

The above list includes examples and should not be considered as a complete list of improper activities.

How to report an improper activity

  • If you are a Canada Post employee, you should immediately report any improper activities to your immediate supervisor without fear of reprisal. If for some reason you feel uncomfortable raising the issue with your supervisor, submit a report by telephone, Internet or mail to the independent third-party reporting service listed below.
  • If you are not an employee of Canada Post, report the incident through our independent third party listed below.

Canada Post, using the services of Clearview Strategic Partners Inc., has set up an independently managed toll-free "hotline" that is available year-round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to receive reports from employees and other individuals on potential improper activities.

You may file a report through one of the following means:

Customer service complaints should not be submitted through Whistleblowing. For these complaints, it is important that you contact Canada Post Customer Service online or at 1-800-267-1177 (1-416-979-8822 from outside Canada). Customer Service agents will attempt to resolve your complaint and provide you with a file number referencing your complaint.

If Canada Post has completed its review of your complaint and you are not satisfied with the proposed solutions, you may appeal to the Ombudsman. Please note that you will require this file number in order for the Ombudsman to assess your complaint.
