John McCallum proposes new CEO of Canada Post
April 7, 2005
"Ms. Greene will come to this position with significant federal government and private sector management experience", said Minister McCallum. "The Board of Canada Post believes that the expertise gained by Ms. Greene in her previous positions would be a tremendous asset to the organization. Having reviewed her impressive background, I agree."
As a federal public servant, Ms. Greene held executive positions at the former departments of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, the Federal-Provincial Relations Office and Human Resources Development Canada. She also served as Assistant Deputy Minister at Transport Canada. After moving to the private sector, Ms. Greene became a Managing Director at TD Securities, then Senior Vice President / Chief Administration Officer, Retail Products at CIBC, and most recently was Senior Vice President, Operational Effectiveness at Bombardier Inc. Ms. Greene was named one of the Top 100 Influential Women in Canada by the National Post in 2003, and one of the Top 40 Female Corporate Executives in Canada in 2004 by the Women's Executive Network and the Ivey School of Business.
Canada Post utilized the new Government of Canada Crown Corporation appointment procedures to select Ms. Greene from a field of highly qualified candidates. Selection criteria for the CEO position were published in newspapers and the Canada Gazette, and an extensive search was conducted with the assistance of a professional recruitment firm. The Canada Post Board of Directors unanimously recommended to the Minister that Ms. Greene be considered for the position of President and CEO of Canada Post. Detailed information on the appointment process for Crown Corporation CEOs can be found at www.tbs-sct.gc.ca.
