Canada Post statement concerning its rates

Canada Post wishes to correct misinformation currently circulating on the Internet about rates that vary between private postal outlets and corporate Canada Post offices.

Postal rates are the same at all Canada Post locations, regardless of the type of facility. Canada Post's published rates are programmed in computers used by our private sector partners consequently, the maximum rates that private sector partners can charge are the Canada Post published rates.

Furthermore, Canada Post’s agreement with its private sector partners specifies that they cannot charge more than the published rates. If a postal outlet charges prices that are over the published rates, it is in violation of its contract. Any such occurrences should be reported to Canada Post customer service immediately at 1-866-607-6301.
