Doug Ettinger was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Post in March 2019.
Canada Post is the country’s postal service and leading parcel delivery company. In 2018, it delivered 8 billion pieces of mail, parcels and messages to 16.4 million addresses. With its subsidiaries Purolator Inc., SCI Group Inc. and Innovapost Inc., Canada Post is a leader in providing innovative e-commerce, marketing and logistics solutions.
As Chief Commercial Officer for Canada Post from August 2016 until his appointment as CEO, Doug led growth strategies for Canada Post’s Parcels, Direct Marketing and Transaction Mail businesses. He oversaw all commercial functions, including Sales, Marketing, Retail, Digital, Business Development and Customer Service. He was also a member of the senior executive team that reviews and approves major business plans, processes and policies, as well as performance indicators and targets.
An accomplished senior executive with a strong focus on customer service, Doug has more than 30 years of broad experience in the consumer packaged goods industry. He worked with Canadian and global organizations – leading sales, marketing, and product management.
Before joining Canada Post in August 2016, Doug led well-established companies through complex business transformations. He was President and CEO of Scotsburn Dairy Group, the largest Atlantic Canadian-owned dairy processor and distributor. Prior to that, he was the first non-family member to be President and CEO of Ganong Bros. Limited, one of Canada’s oldest family businesses. Previously, he held executive roles with Parmalat, Nestlé and Coca-Cola.
Doug also chairs the board of Innovapost.
A proud native of Nova Scotia, Doug earned both a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Masters in Business Administration from Dalhousie University in Halifax.
- Chief Operating Officer
Appointed in February 2020, Charles leads all operational aspects of Canada Post’s business, including Plants, Delivery, Engineering, Network and Real Estate. He is responsible for ensuring Canada Post maintains a highly efficient network and a safe operation that provides reliable, market-leading service to our customers and Canadians. He is tasked with taking Canada Post’s Operations forward and delivering on strategic goals through employee engagement and collaboration with our partners.
Charles is a global executive with more than 30 years of experience in the areas of post, parcel, international shipping and e-commerce, primarily with DHL. He has held senior leadership roles in Europe, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the United States.
Charles holds an Advanced Logistics diploma from Cranfield University School of Management and completed the Advanced Senior Executive Management Program at Henley Business School, both in the United Kingdom.
- Chief Customer and Marketing Officer
In this role, Rod provides leadership and oversight for the growth strategies for Canada Post’s Parcels, Direct Marketing and Transaction Mail businesses and all commercial functions, including Sales, Marketing, Retail, Digital, International Development and Customer Service.
Prior to this, Rod was Vice-President, Parcels and International Business, where he was responsible for the growth strategy, product and solution design, overall performance and profitability of Canada Post’s Parcels and International Business.
Rod started his career at Canada Post in 1994 and held progressively responsible roles both in the field and at Head Office in sales, business and market development, parcels product management and international business areas. He was previously General Manager, Domestic Parcels & E-commerce Market Development, where he expanded Canada Post’s capabilities in the e-commerce segment to support retailers and consumers with the incredible growth of online shopping in Canada. He is a recognized leader in the Canadian parcels and e-commerce sector.
Rod holds an HBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. He lives in Ottawa with his wife and three children.
Cheryl Hodder, QC
- Senior Vice-President, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability
In addition to leading Canada Post’s legal and corporate security teams, Cheryl oversees matters of accessibility, environmental sustainability, indigenous affairs, community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and openness and transparency.
Cheryl joined Canada Post as General Counsel in July 2019 and since then has helped ensure the company’s business practices, policies and dealings meet regulatory requirements. She provides counsel to Canada Post, its subsidiaries and the Board of Directors.
Cheryl has more than 25 years of legal and executive business experience. She was most recently Partner and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at McInnes Cooper, one of Canada’s 25 largest law firms. She has been named in The Best Lawyers in Canada since 2011 in the area of corporate governance and, in 2010, was named Atlantic Canada’s first Women of Influence. She is also listed as a notable practitioner in business law by Chambers Canada. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2010.
Cheryl received the Canadian Bar Association’s Community Service Award for her contributions to many community organizations and boards, including the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Cheryl has served as a private company and Crown corporation Director and is currently a member of the Mount Allison University Board of Regents.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Education degrees from Mount Allison University and her Bachelor of Law from the University of New Brunswick. She is also a Member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and a holder of the ICD Director designation.
- Interim Chief Financial Officer
Barbara was appointed Interim Chief Financial Officer in February 2021. In this role, she provides expert advice and counsel to the Board and executive team on matters that support profitable growth, including operational change, business transformation, investment opportunities, customer contracts and strategic planning.
Prior to this, she was Vice-President, Finance and Comptroller, where she was responsible for all facets of financial decision-making, comptrollership, financial performance planning, measurement, forecasting and reporting in the company.
Barbara joined Canada Post in 1991 as a Supervisor in Customer Accounts and has held several progressively more responsible roles in the Finance organization, including positions in internal audit, financial reporting and control and decision support. Barbara has also served as Assistant Controller for Purolator Courier.
In 2006, Barbara became General Manager, Comptroller where she was responsible for the Corporation’s financial reporting, and instrumental in developing the financial aspects of the five-year corporate plan, operating budget and financial targets.
Barbara serves on the Board of Directors for both Innovapost and SCI, and is the Chair of the Audit Committees for both subsidiaries. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Carleton University.
Barbara is married and has a son.
- Chief People and Safety Officer
In this role, Susan leads all aspects of Human Resources while advancing safety as the company’s top priority. She is also responsible for supporting collaborative efforts with all of our bargaining agents across the company.
In her previous role as Senior Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Susan was responsible for Government and Community Affairs, Compliance and for leading the shift to integrating Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into our corporate priorities.
Susan has served as a key advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors, playing a critical role in setting the Corporation's strategic direction through development and approval of the five-year corporate plan, as well as successfully leading the company through several mandate reviews.
Susan joined Canada Post in 2005 from the federal government, where she worked in increasingly senior positions in several different departments, including the Department of Finance, Transport Canada, Industry Canada and Health Canada.
Throughout her career, Susan has established excellent relationships with multiple stakeholders, bringing together divergent interests on highly sensitive issues. She is known for her strong communication skills and ability to bring complex issues to ground.
Susan is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation, a trustee of the Canada Post Community Foundation and a mentor in the Women’s Executive Network. She is fluently bilingual and holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics and an MBA from McGill University. She is married and is the mother of two.
- Senior Vice-President, Corporate and Employee Communications
In this role, Jo-Anne is responsible for aligning and integrating internal and external communication strategies to enhance business results, corporate brand and other important company priorities, including safety and mental health.
Jo-Anne was Vice-President, Communications and Public Affairs at Canada Post from April 2011 to October 2019. She joined the company in April 2008 as General Manager, Communications Strategy. Prior to that, she spent 14 years as Senior Vice-President with Hill & Knowlton, one of the world’s leading public relations, public affairs and strategic communications agencies.
In December of 1988, at the age of 29, Jo-Anne was named General Manager of the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League. At the time, she was the first female General Manager of any professional sports franchise in North America. Following three seasons with the team, Jo-Anne spent two years as a morning show co-host on an Ottawa radio station before moving to Hill & Knowlton.
