Discover how to return an online purchase – whether your merchant sends a pre-printed label, provides instructions for printing a label at home or at the post office, or sends a QR code for an unpackaged return.

The merchant provides instructions for printing your own return label at home.
You receive a QR code from the merchant or Canada Post that states “box-free.”
You receive a pre-printed return label included with your original shipment.

You can use Ship Online to create, pay for and print a label online. If you don’t have a printer, you can still purchase the label online and visit a post office to have it printed.
Otherwise, simply bring your package to a post office and our agents can help you with options for returning the item yourself. You can use a flat rate box or explore other sending solutions.

You can track your return package once it’s been scanned at a Canada Post facility.

You can also use the Canada Post mobile app to scan and track returns.
When initiating your return on the retailer's website, choose the box-free label-free option if available. When you select the box-free label-free returns option, the system will automatically determine if your item is eligible based on its size and type.
This option is only available for participating retailers. Check with the retailer's return policy to see if they offer unpackaged (box-free label-free) returns. If not available, request they consider adding the service in the future.
Option 1: Through the retailer
Some retailers provide a direct link or email to download and print your return label. Simply apply the label to your package and drop it off at any post office or street letter box.
Make sure to note the tracking number below the barcode to monitor your return online.
Option 2: Through Canada Post
If the retailer doesn’t offer a label directly:
Tips for printing:
Place the item you wish to return in its original packaging. Include any accessories, manuals and the receipt or proof of purchase.
If your merchant offers the unpackaged returns option, do not bring the shipping box to the post office. Only bring the item’s original product packaging.
