  • What is Self Scan?

    The Self Scan feature can be found on Canada Post’s mobile app. It allows you to return packages through a Canada Post mailbox and receive tracking details and updates.
  • Do I need Canada Post’s mobile app to use this feature?

    Yes, this feature is accessible through both Canada Post’s Android and iOS applications.
  • Who can use the Self Scan return service?

    Anyone within Canada wishing to return a package can use this service; however, you must have an authenticated and registered Canada Post account, and you need to be signed in on your Canada Post mobile app.
  • How do I use the Self Scan return service?

    Simply package your item securely, affix your return label, scan the barcode and drop it in a Canada Post mailbox.
  • Are there any size restrictions?

    To fit in a mailbox, your package must measure within the following dimensions: 28 cm x 21.5 cm x 14 cm (11 inches x 8.5 inches x 5.5 inches) or 36 cm x 19 cm x 11 cm (14 inches x 7.5 inches x 4.3 inches).

    If your package is too large for a mailbox, take it to a post office near you.

  • Can I track my returned package using this service?

    Yes, once you have successfully scanned your return label and placed your package in the mailbox, it will be picked up and processed at our facility. You will then receive a PIN that can be used for tracking.
  • Are there any requirements for using this service?

    Yes, you must have a return label to return a package, and the package must be dropped into the mailbox after you scan your label in the mobile app. You must also have a registered Canada Post account.
  • Can I drop off a return package at any Canada Post mailbox?

    Yes, you can drop off the return package at any designated Canada Post mailbox anywhere in the country including urban, remote or rural areas. Please note that the package must fit within the size limitations outlined above.
  • Are there any prohibited items that cannot be returned using this service?

    Yes, certain items are restricted and cannot be returned through this service. Please refer to these guidelines for details.
  • Can I modify the return address or recipient information after the package has been dropped in a mailbox?

    No, modifications to the return address or recipient information are not possible once the package has been dropped in a mailbox.
