Wildfires are affecting mail and parcel delivery in certain communities. Canada Post has implemented contingency measures to serve residents of these communities and to keep them connected.
Mail for Bissett residents (R0E 0J0, R0E 0B1) is also available for pickup at:
Pine Falls Post Office
23 Pine Street, Pine Falls MB R0E 1M0
Open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
Residents must bring valid government-issued photo identification to pick up their mail.
Free Mail Forwarding
Effective July 15, eligible residents in two additional communities can receive free Mail Forwarding service for up to 12 months. Impacted residents have until August 15 to register for the free service.
Mail Forwarding is an important service for ongoing mail and it also provides a vital link with government and relief agencies going forward. If a customer receives regular cheques through the mail, it’s important for them to register.
By registering, Canada Post will be able to ship mail to a different address selected by the customer. This can be done on a short-term basis or for longer periods, even if the address is temporary.
Residents affected by wildfires with one of the following postal codes are now eligible for this offer:
- Leaf Rapids: R0B 1W0
- Lynn Lake: R0B 0W0*
* Lynn Lake residents were also offered this service, but they had to register by July 5. The registration period has now been extended from July 15 to August 15.
Residents affected by wildfires from the following communities were eligible for this offer if they registered by July 5: Cross Lake, Flin Flon, Norway House, Pukatawagan and Sherridon. Residents from Bissett, Cranberry Portage, Snow Lake and Split Lake had to register by July 11.
To request the free service, affected customers will need to either:
- register at canadapost.ca/mailforward using a credit card to authenticate their identity. No fee will be charged to the credit card.
- go to a post office with a government-issued photo ID (mandatory). Proof of authorization is required to request the free service on behalf of another person.
Note: Refunds will be processed automatically if Leaf Rapids and Lynn Lake residents purchased the Mail Forwarding service between July 3 and July 15.
Customers can check the Delivery service alerts page for updates, including when postal services resume in their community.
We thank those affected for their patience in this difficult time.
