Free Mail Forwarding for customers affected by wildfires in Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba effective May 24

Canada Post recognizes the difficulties facing many residents in communities across the province of British Columbia resulting from wildfires. Our team is actively working to put contingency measures in place, assessing the situation and options, to best serve residents of these communities and to keep them connected. The safety of our employees is our number one priority and Red and Yellow delivery service alerts have been issued.

Canada Post is advising customers that it has issued a red service alert for the province of Nova Scotia due to severe flooding in the region.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada – Union of Taxation Employees (PSAC-UTE) and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) have reached a tentative agreement. With this agreement, the national PSAC strike is now over and CRA employees are required to return to work on May 4.

As the situation caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) quickly evolves, we want to assure you that all of us at Canada Post are doing everything we can to keep our employees, customers and the communities we serve safe.

Canada Post is pleased that a special examination by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and KPMG found that Canada Post has good practices in place to oversee the running of the Corporation and to manage its operations. The special examination report can be found here.

We’re excited to offer Xpresspost International service to 19 additional countries. Effective October 24, you will be able to ship items using Xpresspost International, instead of using International Air Parcel, which is slower and lacks the features Xpresspost International has to offer.

We have just released our financial results for the second quarter of 2016. Canada Post made a profit of $1 million this quarter, which is essentially break even. Transaction mail volumes continue to fall, parcel volumes are up again and pension solvency obligations grew by 2 billion. Our growth in parcels won’t be enough to cover our transaction mail declines as well as our pension obligations.
